In the late 2010s, a client was on a multi-destination journey in Africa. He was supposed to fly to Namibia via RSA. He hadn't asked about a visa to enter Namibia, and somehow I hadn't anticipated that either. So they detained him at a facility in the transit area at JNB. I had just checked in at the Grand Forest Metsovo*****, a transit overnight stop on our way to Corfu's brand new Ikos Dassia*****. When he called me about his predicament, I felt like dying. Then a colleague, whom I've known for years and who lived in Johannesburg, managed to meet my client in the morning, smuggle his passport out, obtain the visa the same day, and return the passport.
